I began this rug hooking piece after the birth of my son in September 2024. It was meant to carry me through the year post partum as a project to connect me to my art practise in spite of all the changes ahead of me. I have so many feelings about motherhood, invisible labour, and duty to family that are layered into the meaning of this piece. The image is a tribute to my grandfather, and the work was created as an inheritance gift to my son. This piece is still in progress.
